Aside from Audible, this is perhaps the most eagerly-awaited Windows Phone app imaginable. It’s up. $2.99. Enjoy. :)

I many or may not have spent nearly all day playing this *shifty eyes*
Despite already thoroughly beating the game on my iPad, Plants vs. Zombies was my most anticipated game on Windows Phone. It’s a much better game than Angry Birds, IMO. Check it out if you haven’t!
Yes! Thanks for the heads up, Paul!
The only Problem is that these apps are SOOOOOOOOOO expensive.
I get so tired of people moaning about the price of games on WP7. Games like these can keep me entertained for days or weeks at a time. All for a fraction of the price of a movie ticket or the price of a cup of coffee or a burger. That’s amazing value for money.
I take the comparison with other phone systems but you have to be realist about the economics. To make money from WP7 you are forced to charge more due to the relatively small user base. There are a gabillion iPhones out there so you can make money charging less.
Oh, and I agree that Plants vs. Zombies is much better than Angry Birds.
Agreed. There is endless enjoyment in Angry Birds, it will last me a really long time (at least a month of solid gameplay most likely). $2.99 is less than a latte. If you want to moan about other games that are actually expensive like The Harvest or Plants vs Zombies, go ahead. But $2.99 is a fantastic deal. I just wish I could pay more (for Rio and Seasons content, respectively). :)
Even though a $2.99 sandwich tastes great, knowing that almost everybody else paid $0.99 for the exact same sandwich somehow spoils your appetite a bit…
Come on.
To (ab)use the sandwich analogy: You live in the USA and you’re hungry. You can buy a sandwich for $2.99.
So, are you not going to buy it because that sandwich is $.99 in Europe and free in Asia? No. You buy the damn sandwich.
Geesh.
I’m not talking about Europe and Asia (those poor guys are getting screwed far worse!), let’s stick to the USA.
Angry birds on iPhone: $0.99
On android (w/ ads): $Zero
On WP7: $2.99
Personally, I’d rather take a version without xbox live “enhancements” and keep $2 in my pocket for other games. Or take the game for free and see a few ads.
Extra rant: why is Angry Birds $3.49 in Canada even though the Canadian dollar is higher than the US?
It was an illustrative joke. My God man.
When did $2.99 become expensive?
When it wasn’t on an Apple product. :)
You’re lucky, according to Microsoft’s maths, $2.99 equates to £2.99 for us over here in the UK. Total ripoff.
Well, it is $4 in Australia… as opposed to the $2.79 equivalent of the US price..
i brought my phone charger to work with me today :) Plants vs Zombies as well…
Wow! Now THAT’s a giant step for Windows Phone — and it may finally reach 50 users at the end of the year. 2011, that is (yeah, I’m an eternal optimist).
Too expensive and far too late. I’ve played AB on Android and completed all the versions. I’m not going to pay £2.99 for this incarnation, XBOX achievements are simply not worth it. I got the trial and you can happily play all the levels without restriction so far.
I do think it looks good on my HD7′s 4.3″ screen and the graphics are smooth. Resuming is quick compared to Android. It’s come too late to the party though and I don’t see how it can be justified since it’s free on Android and only 59p on iPhone. In fact, all the XBOX titles are way overpriced, not converted any trials so far although Fruit Ninja almost tempted me.
Well let me explain when it became expensive. When other echo systems offer it for less. You compare the price of any product to others. To me buying a house for 200,000 dollars isn’t expensive but when you can but the same house for 150,000 you want it for that price. Not everything is about is about apple. I frankly cant stand the company and support wp7. But lets call a spade a spade. I feel that one should not only compete on the number of apps in the market place and the quality but also the price. So yes, to me it is expensive.
This debate is sort of pointless. Eventually, apps will start coming out more simultaneously on the various platforms. Right now, WP7 is just playing catchup. We’re almost there.
I agree paul, i think they will be alot closer once mango drops. They have a pretty good app porfolio right now i think and it is only going to get better. I can’t honestly think of any reason to buy an iphone from what i am seeing in mango. How long do you think it will take for microsft to catch up to google and apply as far as their app market is concerned.
Speaking of Audible, when are we going to be getting an app from them? Oh yeah, really enjoying me some angry birds!
UPDATE: You can only play the first 21 levels in trial mode and then you can go no further. But since I’ve played all the remaining levels and all the other versions on Android previously, I’ve not missed out.
$2.99? Worth it x 2! (for my phone and my wife’s phone).
$2.99 = Original Angry Birds on WP7
–or–
$2.97 = (Original Angry Birds + Angry Birds Seasons + Angry Birds Rio) on iOS
Rationalize that.
This conversation is pointless.
I would pay 30$ if I could buy it. It seems Microsoft did a great job on letting you add credit cards, change the country in Zune or in any other way to buy an app without a US credit card.
I know at least other 10 persons like me that cant buy WP7 apps because of this dumb bugs. Just try to change your country in your profile. Microsofts replies to this issues? Create a new msn account and zune account and lose all your settings !!!
I spend over 200$ on my old Winmo on apps, on Wp7 0$, because I cant !
