Even more Mango features hidden in the developer tools emulator

In keeping with this week’s ongoing revelations about new Windows Phone “Mango” features, Alan Burchill uncovers a few more that are hidden in the handset emulator in the Windows Phone “Mango” developer tools:

With the release of Windows Phone “Mango” Developer tools Microsoft have now released the new limited functionality has been released to the public. Even though this emulator is greatly restricted there are still some new features that can be used if you just going diving into the UI following all the links to other actions…

Note: Everything you see here can be see by anyone who has the new Windows Phone “Mango” developer tools installed with the new “Mango” emulator.

MP3 Audio Playback now has the controls at the top and they have a repeat and shuffle to support the playlist feature announced at MIX’11.

Search has the new Camera, Music and Audio search buttons… I found in my test that the music search was very good and the length of time taken to find the song depended on how loud the music is playing.

Voice Search also works well… Showing you results for Web, Local and Images… Also included was Windows Phone Apps that might match the query.

There is a lot more, and a lot of screenshots, so please do read the original post for a lot more information.

    Hi Paul,

Your site/posts don’t render properly if the ‘Tracking Protection’ feature of IE 9.0 is turned ON. Can you please do something about it?

    Thanks!

Sorry, don’t agree! I have safety turned on in IE9, and I see everything perfectly here. So don’t get what you’re talking about.

    More fun with the emulator:

There is a youtube video that used a song in the background that I wanted to ID, but the video’s uploader was not telling. I’ve tried using my iPhone 3GS with Shazam and Soundhound – no luck. But I downloaded the Windows Phone 7 SDK and used the Bing Audio search in the phone emulator, and it nailed it first try! I think I may have to get one of these windows phones when Mango comes out.

Has there been any information on the availability of a front facing camera support in Mango??

Bing music search (in the emulator) strikes again!
Any “Children’s Hospital” fans here? At the end of the episode “And the coffee machine paid for itself” they used a song that I liked but didn’t know title/artist..
    Shazam – FAIL
    Soundhound – FAIL
Bing music search – got it on the 1st try.
