HTC Arrive

Sprint announced the HTC Arrive this week. You’d perhaps think that Microsoft’s Windows Phone PR team would have sent out some email announcement about this or something, but they didn’t. Which is weird, because I think this is a big deal.

Anyway, browsing over to Sprint’s Arrive web site, you can find out a bit about the Arrive, which, uh, arrives March 20. As with all other US-based Windows Phones (at launch), its $199.99 with a two-year contract. It has a 5 MP camera. It has a full, slide-out hardware keyboard.

Beyond that, it’s all stock Windows Phone stuff. I guess. There isn’t much info there. Even the obligatory post Windows Phone blog doesn’t provide any additional info.

Guys, please. Promote this stuff.

  1. At Least Samsung Is Promoting Their Windows Phone Lineup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrhpXQqS3Is&feature=player_embedded

Good Ad, Shame About The Botched Update Though…

I saw a great Samsung focus commercial the other day. It only took forever to come out. They need much more advertising

    What about Verizon???
Does anyone have any information on when Verizon will have Windows Phone 7?

One interesting thing about the HTC Arrive page from Sprint, is the Games hub is shown horizontal.
I have the LG Quantum (another slide-out keyboard phone) and even if I hold it sideways and have the keyboard out, the games hub still only displays up and down.
Mistake? Feature thrown in next update? I’m hoping it’s the latter.

Paul, are you trying to imply that a CDMA Windows Phone 7 is a big deal? I am STILL waiting for Verizon to say anything, but I think that it’s more likely that they’ll just put the on the shelf and pretend they aren’t there.

If those of us on Verizon are lucky, we’ll get a CDMA version of the Focus. If we aren’t we’ll get the same HTC Touch Pro7 like Sprint.

Why promote? Just on looks alone, this phone is DOA

Whomever is in charge of PR on WP7 needs to be replaced… I mean, I have not seen a worse PR department. The division that needs the most PR is getting the least, and if they get any, it is either a bad review or a commercial that isn’t showing me any app in the past 3 months, that my phone can run, outside what just comes with the phone. I mean come on, the people that watch commercial are not tech junkies like us, but ordinary people that need a reason to buy the phone… so far, it’s been pretty much blah!!

  8. kabato says:

Oh come on Paul! It didn’t sell well with android, and won’t with a broken windows phone os. Windows can be fixed but that brand of phone is just not popular with the general public. Plus it’s not 4g.

I saw an announcement for this from Windows Phone on my Facebook page.

I had to register just to point out that as much as I have been going nuts waiting for Verizon to carry a WP7 device, I am pretty disappointed with that I am just now learning of the HTC Arrive. I actually subscribed to the official MS Windows Phone : New Phones RSS feed and there is nothing on this device! I don’t understand why it seems as if MS doesn’t care about its genuine fans and tech enthusiasts.

    • Paul Thurrott says:

Not clear on what you mean by Microsoft, as it’s Verizon’s decision when to announce and ship that device. But it’s coming. Soon.

      • tfhdc says:

Reading that back, I realize it could read back a little confusing. I assumed that since I was following the New Phones RSS feed from the WP7 main site (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/buy/7/default.aspx) that regardless of what carrier, any new phone would show up there. The fact that the HTC Arrive did not show up yet leads me to believe that if and when Verizon starts to carry WP7 devices, I’ll be left to gathering my information from other sites instead of from Microsoft.

Wp7 on Sprint is awesome, the only issue is that phone gets a little hot on 3G. But that is a hardware issue. OS is smooth and beautiful. I bought this phone because I watch Windows weekly, thanks!

  12. How can we log out from our facebook on this phone? someone please help, I tried checking the settings but it won’t work. :|
