Thanks to Eric S. for tipping me off that Microsoft quietly released several new Zune HD apps and games to the Zune Marketplace back on December 16 (and before that as well). Like many, I didn’t even notice. But as with all Zune HD software, these new apps and games are free, and thus worth checking out if you have Microsoft’s superior but not-well-known media player.
Here’s what’s new since the last update.
A Beanstalk Tale. Added December 16.
Alarm Clock. Added December 16.
Chord Finder. Added December 16.
Drum Machine. Added December 16.
Finger Physics. Added December 16.
Snowball. Added December 16.
Tiki Totems. Added December 16.
Hairball. Added October 20.
Tiles. Added October 20.
Also updated were Facebook, Twitter, and Windows Live Messenger.

Yes, although I’ve never been able to get Tiki Totems to install. I haven’t found out why not yet.
I’d like to see the same apps appear for the WP7 as well please, Microsoft!
* Chord Finder
* Alarm Clock – with your own playlist!
* drum machine
* even tiles!
(oh and Windows Live Messenger)
they should make these available for windows phone…
Agreed. And for free.
Are you able to get these on a Wp7 device? It doesn’t look like it (by searching the marketplace) so I guess not.
I wonder why Microsoft would give free goodies to Zune users and not WP7?
funny how there is an offical Messenger App for Zune and not for Win Phone
Microsoft guys were using it on WP during my previous campus visit. I guess there’s some egregious error with it. And, go figure, it was farmed out to a third party.
Paul, how is the Zune HD as an Audible device? With Audible dragging their feet on releasing an app for Windows Phone, I’m stuck holding onto my iPod Touch just to play Audiobooks. If the Zune HD does a decent job, that could finally free me from iTunes…
Great, aside from the terrible “side-load” requirement.
