Have you heard anything about the update for Windows Phone 7 coming in January?
I read it here – http://www.electronista.com/articles/10/11/29/updated.rumored.to.be.coming.in.january/
Don’t forget the fanboys will also post that the AT&T buy one get one free campaign is padding sales figures as well.
When the iPhone was released, I remember seeing them at the local beach attractions as a prize in a game machine. I’m sure *that*’s not padding, either.
While it’s easy to be pessimistic about WP7 sales, one important thing to remember from history is Microsoft with the PDA market. In the mid-late 90′s, Palm owned everything. Microsoft was laughed at for entering in that market. Within 5 years, Microsoft took that market share. While I don’t think History will exactly repeat itself, I think it does mean that people shouldn’t write-off Microsoft here (if they’re in it for the long haul).
One thing people conveniently forget in their desire to out-do everyone else criticizing Windows Mobile: It beat Palm into the ground. Microsoft didn’t respond quickly enough to RIM, but was still in the game. And they certainly didn’t respond adequately to the iPhone. But then, who did? RIM is going down, Palm is a has-been, etc. Only Android has risen to the challenge, and that’s a brand-new system. So is Windows Phone.
