Windows Phone 7 feature focus

I’ve posted a preliminary list of the Windows Phone 7 features I’d like to document over the next few months on the SuperSite. These features include hubs, apps, Metro and UI features, settings, and hardware features.

This work will be separate from the book. I’m not sure about crossover per se, but I’d imagine that the web-based stuff will be more of a reference whereas the book is more of a topic-by-topic exploration. There will definitely be information on the site that’s not in the book, if only because it will be a work-in-progress and can incorporate any late-breaking developments and ongoing changes to Windows Phone.

Anyway, if you’re interested, please check it out and let me know whether certain features should be documented sooner, and if there are any missing features you’d like to see added. (Replying in the Comments section may make more sense than email. Your choice, of course.)

Thanks!

I’m curios on how Internet Explorer performs with web apps, like Google tasks, seeing how the browser simply crashes when I try it on the emulator.

The things I would like to see documented sooner then later are going to be the hardest ones to document first because because some of it is not done yet.

Xbox Live and Themes from your list and then third for me would be apps integration. By apps integration I mean things like how are apps going to flow in and through the UI, are there rules for apps in hubs or anywhere else, or is the UI completely locked down from the apps point of view into one big list?

I realize that Microsoft does not want a “apps phone” per se but I am guessing they realize that all of a sudden that apps seem to be the buzzword that is driving phone adoption.

I like this idea Paul, now you can more or less cover any updates as well? Though do you plan to just keep all this info on the supersite or move it over here?

Still, it’d be nice to see how things stand at RTM and how they change in say, 6 months from now as far as feature changes and additions.

I’ll update it as the OS is updated. I was sort of thinking about adding some versioning info in there like “Available since version 1.1″ or whatever.

Speaking of updates, it seems MS has pushed out it’s first one already via the Zune software. You check that out yet?

I got one back in July. I haven’t seen one this week.
