One thing that’s occurring here is that I’m familiarizing myself with WordPress. I was a Blogger user for many users and always liked it (in fact, I paid for Blogger Pro before Google bought the service and ended that upsell). And I use Community Server on the SuperSite Blog, which I loathe. I see that a lot of high-profile sites use WordPress, so I figured I should check it out. This blog seemed like the ideal candidate for that.
Unfortunately, when you’re learning something new, you can miss things. And just this morning I noticed that WordPress uses a service called Akismet to protect my site from spam comments. Spam comments? Hm. So I looked and, sure enough, some non-spam comments were being held as spam. Some for a long time.
Sigh.
So, sorry about. I’ll keep an eye on the spam folder–most of it looks like trackbacks–and make sure nothing that isn’t spam gets stuck in there.

I have a Blogger account for my blog. Do you think WordPress is a better service, or did you mainly choose it because as you mentioned there are a lot of high-profile users? I was hesitant when choosing which service to go with at first, and the fact that a lot of professional writers it seems used WordPress somewhat swayed me towards WordPress. However, I ended up using Blogger for some unknown reason. (I really have no idea why I chose Blogger, except that it was the first one I signed up with, it seemed like WordPress was all around better … oh well.)
Glad to see you’re learning WordPress slowly but surely. :)
It’s too early to tell. WordPress seems good overall.
WordPress is a very nice blogging tool, I have a a poetry website and love being in the back end. Its very nicely laid out.
Also I watched you latest Podcast and what a delight it was to hear you speak for the first time. I have been a recent fan of your blog but I had never actually seen you before. I enjoyed hearing what you had to say.
Howdy! Have you thought about using Discus as the comment engine?
No, I’m pretty much just using whatever comes with the tool.
Hi Paul. I just recently started using WordPress as well. I noticed this site was a little slow and wanted to suggest the plug-in “W3 Total Cache” I thought in improved the responsiveness of my site.
Thanks for what you do, I enjoy your work.
I have noticed that when comments are made the times are not listed. However, if I visit the page on my phone and view the comments, the times are listed. Is this something that you can turn on for the regular view of the blog?
I don’t know … I think that’s a function of the theme, but I will try to find out.
If you need some help with it, let me know. I know you’ve got a lot of other crap going on, so I’m available to help however I can.
WordPress is great for writers. You can change absolutely everything in it. And multiple times. I can fix it and refix it, and never have to any actual work on my book. :)
I’m just starting to use WordPress as well. Not sure about it, yet. Haven’t actually blogged yet. I am currently using dasBlog on my own rented iron…

But if WP works out I may switch over for real.
