Microsoft drops ‘Series’ from Windows Phone 7 branding

Tis the season for Series finales. We’ve got one too – dropping the ‘Series’ and keeping the ‘Windows Phone 7.’ Done.

    Well, at least it’s not QUITE a mouthful as before. And I think it aligns the whole “brand strategy” of everything a little better.

    I never really understood what all the fuss was about with the name. Microsoft wasn’t expecting everybody to “Windows Phone 7 Series” everytime one mentioned the phone. In normal conversation it’s just “Windows Phone”.

      Right. But it became a humor point for the anti-Microsoft crowd. I knew they were going to change it, I’m just glad it happened relatively quickly.

    I even recall 2 third party app developers biffing the name @ MIX10. Thank goodness!
